The need for sharing meaningful stories that connect us to the human experience is stronger than ever in the midst of all the recent challenges in our world. This is our moment in time to take advantage of the shifting consciousness surrounding mental health, to share our personal experiences, to foster a culture of open, honest reflection and to have brave dialogues about mental health and well-being. We know the truth when we hear it. Let’s GO THERE and have REAL conversations and become educated, supportive and earnest listeners.

We hope YOU will consider sharing YOUR story for consideration for our upcoming show on June 5 or for Family Service Agency’s GO THERE Blog.

We are seeking well-crafted TRUE stories clocking in at 7-minutes or under for the JUNE 5 show and additional stories to be featured on the GO THERE Blog. Stories submitted for the show must be no more than 7 minutes long when read or told with feeling (approximately 900-1,200 words in English.) Stories submitted for the blog only may be up to 1,500 words.

PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR STORY NO LATER THAN MIDNIGHT ON APRIL 17! 

Stories can be poignant or powerful, comical or compelling.  We want a mix of stories that will take our audience on a journey with heart, humor, honesty and compassion. Topics may include but are not limited to your personal experiences or a loved one's experiences with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, suicide, panic attacks, bipolar disorder, drug and alcohol use, hoarding, loneliness, phobias, PTSD, self-esteem, self-harm, or trauma. Yes, these topics are heavy, but when we talk about them we find out that we're not alone and the load becomes a little lighter. If you can find the lightness or the humor in the telling, that can be healing too!

Two workshops will be available prior to the submission deadline: Monday, April 4 at 7:00pm on ZOOM (rsvp to jamcreativestories@gmail.com for the link) or at Family Service Agency in Burbank on Tuesday, April 5 at 7pm (rsvp to jamcreativestories@gmail.com as space is limited.) Attendance at the workshops is optional and not required for participation.

We look forward to reading what you have to share. It's kind of like giving birth; we have no idea what we're going to get, but we're excited to see what's coming! AND OF COURSE, we are prepared to be flexible in the current times. We understand that the show may need to be presented virtually or possibly postponed.
